Juicing For The Skin

I have always wanted to have healthier looking skin. However, as a child growing up in the country and living off the typical fried, fatty foods that my parents brought and prepared it was difficult for me to maintain pimple free healthy looking skin.  As an adult I now know how to take better care of my skin and I strive to do better; as a result I have taken juicing for the skin to a whole new level.

I cannot imagine not juicing now. In fact if you are not juicing I encourage you to start. You will look and feel so much better. You just might get hooked on juicing.

Many of us have purchased the skin care products that are out there on the market. some of which are very expensive. However, we rarely get the results we are looking for. That's because what we put into our body matters, especially when it comes to skin care. The most expensive skin care product available in the world cannot repair and restore our skin if we dump nothing but junk food into our system. The excessive fatty foods and oils, the sugar-laden beverages and processed foods is all bad news for the skin. Our poor digestive system is no match for that kind of junk on a daily bases.

How on earth can we expect to maintain healthy look, vibrant skin when we do not give our bodies what is needed to maintain that health glow. Our skin will start to look old, rough, worn, wrinkled and have a dull appearance.  Our kidneys do the best it can to flush out waste and toxins but when there is an excess of waste in our body, toxins can come out through the skin and cause blemishes and other issues.

Fruits and vegetables are the answer and is a fantastic way of cleansing your system of those nasty toxins.  The vitamins and minerals in fruits and vegetable will give your skin new life. Juicing detoxifies the skin and help keep the skin hydrated and glowing. You will want to be consistent in your juicing efforts; juicing should not be something that is temporary; make juicing a healthy way of life. You will not only look better but you will also feel better. Cut back on or eliminate the junk foods from your diet; It would be a shame to continue eating the wrong kinds of foods knowing what it's doing to your skin.

Here is one of my personal favorites for the skin. I love it because it taste so good and it's so easy and simple.

Skin So Soft (I gave it my own name, feel free to rename)
2 large carrots
l celery stalk
1 apple
l cucumber
Cucumbers have always been great for the skin. In many spas you will see cucumber slices being placed over the eyes when facials are done; cucumbers are great for juicing and for using topically.  Cucumbers are  good for the complexion and for skin elasticity. If possible purchase organic fruits and vegetables for juicing. You want pure juice and not the harmful pesticides used on non-organic fruits and vegetables. If you are unable to purchase organic, remove the peel before juicing.

If you've decided to commit to a healthy lifestyle, then juicing is one of the first steps to take. There are many real health benefits to making your own fruit and vegetable juices and consuming them fresh.

Here are some great tips and advise that will help you get started Juicing

When you're juicing, don't try to remove every bit of pulp from your juice. Pulp adds fiber, vitamins, and minerals to your diet. Leaving some in your juice also adds to the flavor and texture of what you are drinking. You can always add a little water if the pulp is too much. I personally like the pulp.

When it comes to juicing, one thing that you want to keep in mind is the fact that many fruits and vegetables have the most amount of nutrients either in the skins or directly beneath them. This is important to consider when deciding whether or not to peel your ingredients.

A great juicing tip is to wash your juicer in the dishwasher if the juicer manual does not specifically state otherwise. This is a great way to clean your juicer without having to exert much effort in cleaning up. You will be more inclined to juice if you don't have to do a lot of cleaning up. However, it is important to pay close attention to the manual.

Going back to the pulp; juicing naturally creates a good amount of nutritious pulp. Many people just throw this pulp away, but they shouldn't. Keep your pulp, as it can be used in many of your favorite recipes. Adding valuable fruit and vegetable pulp to your recipes increases the fiber content and kids love it; they don't know that they are getting a healthy dose of fiber; no need to tell them.

Another Use For Your Juicer

These pits can destroy your juicers blades (depending upon the type of juicer you own) turning your happy purchase into a giant paperweight. Don't get into such a flow in your juicing that you forget to make the fruits safe for juicing.

When you know that you are going to juice on a particular day, try to set your vegetables out at least a few hours before you are going to use them. You want the vegetables to be room temperature because using cold vegetables for juicing can irritate your digestive system can cause numerous different stomach ailments.

When juicing for your health you should drink the juice as soon as it's made. Refrigerating the juice or leaving it on the counter will allow it to lose nutrients as they break down within the juice. Drinking it immediately will be just like eating all those fresh ingredients whole!

To get the most out of your homemade juices, remember that pulpy fruits like oranges store the most nutrients in their pulp. Instead of cleaning these fruits entirely prior to juicing, simply remove the portion of the peel that comes off naturally and process the rest of the pulp for the most healthful product.

When you start juicing, carrots are a popular option but you do not want to overdo that carrot intake in your juice combos. Carrots contain a lot of sugar and will increase your blood sugar level too much. Eventually, you may want to eliminate the carrots from your combo all together.

A great juicing tip is to not get too carried away with making sweet juices. It's nice to make juice that tastes good, but you don't want to take in too much sugar. Getting careless with making sweet juices can lead to getting in way more sugar than you want.

Non-organic produce is often sprayed with toxic pesticides, which can have harmful effects on the human body if ingested in large quantities.
